General Guideline of Professional
Fee Structure for Clinical Psychologists
In Malaysia (2016)
The Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology recommends the following guide based on the results of a survey done in 2016:

1. PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSULTATION/PSYCHOTHERAPY FEE
(Initial Intake or Follow-up Session)
a. PRIVATE
This is a general guideline and the range of fees depend on location and qualification:
RM150 – RM450 per hour
b. GOVERNMENT
Based on fees set by the Ministry of Health (public hospitals) or teaching hospitals’ settings.
2. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT FEE
Psychological assessment package can consist of: -
• Pre-assessment consultation
• Single or multiple tests administration
• Assessment report
• Post-assessment feedback to client/family
• Site visits (if required)
a. PRIVATE
i. A general acceptable range of fee does not exceed RM5,000 per package
ii. Fees are generally charged depending on duration, number of tests, types of test and on a case-by-case basis.
iii. General Assessment package: RM500 – RM2,000 per package
iv. Comprehensive Assessment package: RM2,000 – RM5,000 per package.
b. GOVERNMENT
Based on the fees set by Ministry of Health (public hospitals) or teaching hospitals’ settings.
3. BRIEF PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT FEE
Generally, 1-2 pages, non-psychological assessments for referral source: -
a. PRIVATE
Ranges from RM100 – RM200 per report
b. GOVERNMENT
Based on the fees set Ministry of Health (public hospitals) or teaching hospitals’ settings.

The Private Healthcare Facilities and Services (Private Hospitals and Other Private
Healthcare Facilities) (Amendment) Order 2013 (P.U. (A) 358) states:
