Emotional and Psychological Well-being: Choose Safe, Legitimate, and Ethical Programs
Assalamualaikum and Salam Sejahtera,
Lately, the public has been presented with various self-development, marriage motivation, and emotional well-being programs offered by various parties. This marks a positive progression as our society grows more open to discussing psychological and emotional issues.
However, MSCP wishes to remind the public to practice caution in choosing such programs. Not all programs are conducted by individuals who have formal training or professional qualifications in psychology or mental health.
For example, marriage motivation programs that touch on psychological aspects of couple relationships, household conflicts, or emotional trauma should ideally be conducted by registered mental health professionals who have undergone specific training in couples and marriage therapy.
Individuals qualified to conduct such sessions include:
✅ Registered Counselors
✅ Clinical Psychologists
✅ Psychiatrists
MSCP also wishes to emphasize that:
Every individual has the right to receive quality, safe, and ethical psychological services.
Programs conducted by individuals without formal training or professional registration can pose risks — including misunderstandings of psychological concepts, inappropriate advice, or unintended emotional consequences.
Programs based on psychological science and evidence-based practices are the best choice for your emotional well-being.
If you or your loved ones are facing emotional stress, anxiety, relationship conflicts, or trauma, seek help from recognized and qualified mental health practitioners. To check the list of registered clinical psychologists in Malaysia, please refer to the MSCP Directory on our website: 👉 https://www.mscp.my/clinical-psychologist-registry
MSCP remains committed to raising public awareness of safe and professional psychological practices, and to strengthening the integrity of psychological services in the country.
Your mental health is not an experiment. Make safe, wise, and legitimate choices.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jamilah Hanum Abdul Khaiyom
